Amos Bardi nasce con il dono di una voce che si manifesta di gran pregio fin da bambino. Soffre però di un grave problema agli occhi che lo rende quasi cieco e che lo costringe a un calvario di interventi chirurgici. Presto, Amos deve separarsi dalla famiglia per entrare in un istituto per non vedenti e imparare il Braille. Ma è proprio lì che gli accade un terribile incidente, una pallonata in faccia che lo porta alla cecità totale. Nonostante tutto, non si arrende. Mosso da grandi aspirazioni ed interessi (la passione per il canto, l’amore per i cavalli, il motorino e la bicicletta, una laurea in giurisprudenza), la sua vita sarà una sfida senza soste fino a quando riuscirà ad agguantare il primo vero successo in palcoscenico con l'esecuzione del “Miserere”. Da lì in poi comincia un'esistenza costellata di vittorie ma in cui, momento per momento, continua silente la sua quotidiana missione di chi per essere come gli altri, in ogni gesto e in ogni momento, deve fare più degli altri.
