In the beginning of the XXth Century,on a rainy day, Corysande, known as Chiffon (Rag!), meets the Colonel d'Aubieres who's just been appointed commander of the local garrison in a small provincial town who's 50 is a womanizer (but aren't all men?) and starts courting her. Chiffon, daughter of the aristocratic Madame de Bray, is a 16 year old easy going girl who does as she pleases (she's almost a woman in this time when girls were married young)and is at odds with her mother who doesn't like her refusal of the rules of her class. Chiffon spends lots of time with her uncle Marc, her penniless father's brother, who's experimenting with aeroplanes. Chiffon decides it's time she left Madame Mother's oppression and got married. Madame Mother is very pleased to see that the Duke/Colonel d'Aubieres is interested in her daughter…
