Das Gespenst (1982)

Herbert Achternbusch's most controversial tragicomedy is about a life-size figure of Christ, descending from the cross and walk through Munich. Here Jesus gets in conflict to passers-by, a bishop and the police. Achternbusch's provocative film, which raises the question of what would happen to Jesus, if he comes nowadays to Munich, at that time caused a storm of reactions from the churches, the federal interior minister and the prosecutor.
This christ is the 42nd Lord God, the 42nd of 41 and therefore quite insignificant. He is drawn into the bed of the chief nun. Does he now share the bed with her, he must also take care of their joint living expenses. As "Ober" (german for waiter) of a "Oberin" (german synonym for chief nun), it seems to be the most obvious, to entertain the guests of the monastery tavern. Simply is not. The answers to mundane questions, such as after the "Vienna sausages": "If the wine is my blood and the bread is my body, then what is it?" he does not get. Even on the idyllic pond, he finds no relief, because it is well known that he can only run on the water but not swimming in it.
