"Il Rito" è un thriller soprannaturale che scopre la presenza del Diavolo anche nei luoghi più sacri della terra. Ispirato a storie vere, il film segue le vicende del seminarista Michael Kovak (Colin O'Donoghue), che è inviato a studiare l'esorcismo in Vaticano nonostante i suoi dubbi su questa pratica controversa e, perfino, sulla sua stessa fede. Indossando un profondo scetticismo come corazza, Michael sfida i suoi superiori invitandoli a rivolgersi alla psichiatria, invece che ai demoni, per trattare i posseduti. Solo quando è mandato come apprendista dal poco ortodosso Padre Lucas (Anthony Hopkins) - un leggendario sacerdote che ha eseguito migliaia di esorcismi- la corazza di Michael, finalmente, comincia a cedere. "The Rite"is a supernatural thriller that detects the presence of the Devil even in the most sacred places of the earth. Inspired by true stories, the film follows the story of the seminarian Michael Kovak (Colin O'Donoghue), which is sent to investigate the exorcism in the Vatican, despite his doubts about this practice in question, and even on his own faith. Wearing a deep skepticism as armor, Michael challenges his superiors asking them to turn to psychiatry, rather than the demons, to treat the possessed. Only when he is sent as an apprentice by the unorthodox Father Lucas (Anthony Hopkins) - a legendary priest who has performed thousands of exorcisms-the armor of Michael finally begins to yield. The seminarian is involved in a disturbing case that seems to transcend even the ability to Father Lucas and start to see a phenomenon that science can neither explain nor control … an evil so violent and terrifying forces him to question all its previous certainties.
