The Next Three Days (2010)

Lara Brennan is arrested for murdering her boss with whom she had an argument. It seems she was seen leaving the scene of the crime and her fingerprints were on the murder weapon. Her husband, John would spend the next few years trying to get her released, but there's no evidence that negates the evidence against her. And when the strain of being separated from her family, especially her son, gets to her, John decides to break her out. So he does a lot of research to find a way.

La vita di John Brennan (Russell Crowe) sembra perfetta fino a quando sua moglie, Lara (Elizabeth Banks), viene arrestata e condannata per un omicidio che sostiene di non aver commesso. A tre anni dalla condanna, John continua a battersi per tenere unita la famiglia, a crescere il loro unico figlio, e a svolgere il suo lavoro di insegnate in un college pubblico, tentando sempre di dimostrare l'innocenza della moglie.
Quando la Corte Suprema respinge l'ultimo appello, John decide che è rimasta solamente una soluzione: organizzare l'evasione della moglie. Rifiutando di lasciarsi scoraggiare dalle scarse probabilità di successo o dalla sua propria inesperienza, John escogita un elaborato piano e si immerge in un mondo pericoloso e sconosciuto, mettendo in gioco tutto quanto per la donna che ama.
