Mario, un giovane impiegato dalla vita ordinaria, si trova a vagare per le strade notturne di Livorno, dopo una gita passata con la famiglia del suo capoufficio. Passeggiando alla ricerca di qualche evento fuori dall'ordinario, si imbatte in una ragazza bionda, straniera, che lo incuriosisce subito. Così, questo fa di tutto per rincontrarla, nonostante la ragazza, che si chiama Natalia, si mostri inizialmente molto schiva e diffidente. Ad ogni modo, i due finiscono con l'incontrarsi la sera successiva, e molte altre dopo. Mario, che inizia a provare amore per la ragazza, viene allontanato bruscamente dalla storia di Natalia: questa, infatti, sta aspettando il ritorno dell'uomo di cui è innamorata, che aveva promesso di tornare da lei entro un anno, dopo averla abbandonata…

Un jeune homme, Mario, erre dans les rues désertes d'une ville, la nuit. Il rencontre sur un pont une jeune femme qui pleure, Natalia. Il obtient d'elle un rendez-vous pour le lendemain à la même heure et au même endroit. Lorsqu'ils se revoient, Natalia lui avoue qu'elle attend son "grand amour", rencontré un an auparavant et qui logeait dans le même immeuble qu'elle. Mais sa famille, voyant d'un mauvais œil cette passion naissante, avait imposé une séparation, arrivée à son terme. Et c'est précisément sur ce pont que la jeune femme attend l'homme. Mais Mario aussi tombe amoureux d'elle…
