is a comic book series created by writer Bill Willingham, published by DC Comics's Vertigo imprint beginning in 2002. The series deals with various characters from fairy tales and folklore--referring to themselves as "Fables"--who have been forced out of their Homelands by "The Adversary" who has conquered the realm. The Fables have traveled to our world and formed a clandestine community in New York City known as Fabletown. Fables who are unable to blend in with human society (such as monsters and anthropomorphic animals) live at "the Farm" in upstate New York. Willingham reinterprets the characters and infuses his tales with elements current and relevant to our times. As of last year Fables has won 12 Eisner Awards, and the artists involved an additional 13 more, making it the most awarded among current book titles. IGN calls it the best comic book currently being produced. Its reviewer Jesse Schedeen says of Issue #14: "...the core series is extremely engrossing and as exciting as it's ever been. Issue #88 was one of the best I've read in a long time, and issue #89 is even better still." He gives issue #14 an Outstanding 9.1 rating and an Editors' Choice Award.
"Witches" Part 3! Up at the Farm, things are getting dicey as the witches try one thing after another to deal with Mister Dark, only to be frustrated, halted and defeated at every turn. Meanwhile, the struggle for political power heats up as the scared Fables turn to the only one among them who's defeated Mister Dark in the past. Back in the long lost Woodland Business Office, poor little Bufkin is fighting for his life against the evil witch Baba Yaga. His strength compared to hers is nil, his allies are nearly useless, and his resources are few. Written by Bill Willingham; Art by Mark Buckingham and Steve Leialoha; Cover by Joao Ruas --
