The Bats return with their eleventh album, Corner Coming Up, released via Flying Nun Records. Recorded at Chicks Studio in Port Chalmers with longtime collaborator and Flying Nun mainstay Tex Houston, the album finds the beloved Christchurch quartet—Robert Scott, Kaye Woodward, Paul Kean and Malcolm Grant—staying true to the understated charm and melodic craftsmanship that have defined their sound since 1982. A cornerstone of the Dunedin sound and one of New Zealand’s most enduring bands, The Bats have built a global cult following through four decades of bittersweet jangle-pop and gently affecting songwriting. Corner Coming Up offers another quietly confident set of songs, steeped in the band’s signature blend of warmth, wistfulness and fuzzed-out grace.
