M.C. Records is proud to announce the release of Guy Davis' The Legend of Sugarbelly on August 23. The 13-song release by the Grammy-nominated legendary roots musician contains mostly original songs and several blues classics from Leadbelly, Rev. Gary Davis, and Blind Lemon Jefferson.
On The Legend of Sugarbelly, Guy's gift for storytelling is on full display as he weaves tales of lost love, moonshiners, and redemption. The sparse backing on the recording lets Guy's voice shine throughout as well as his banjo and guitar playing. On some songs, you'll find him playing solo, others with a more full accompaniment.
This is Guy's most complete recording with its engaging storytelling and gritty blues.
