The company was founded by Laurie Silvers and Mitchell Rubenstein (best known for developing the American Sci Fi Channel) as a division of their publicly traded company, Big Entertainment. The Tekno Comix brand was discontinued in 1997, though books featuring the same characters continued were published with Big Entertainment branding for the rest of that year.
