The Avengers are stranded in an alternate timeline where the time-traveling Scarlet Centurion manipulated the original Avengers into remaining together and eliminating all the other superhumans on Earth, supposedly in pursuit of world peace but actually to further the Centurionís own plans of conquest. The current Avengers defeat the "original" Avengers and the Scarlet Centurion, restoring the timeline to normal so that the Scarlet Centurionís conquest never happened.
