Prelude to Nightwing
Dick Grayson finally receives his own solo series, with Dennis O'Neil on story and Greg Land on art. The mini series was largely a way to gauge the popularity of the character. Sales were strong enough to warrent a series of his own.
Dick Grayson briefly considers retiring Nightwing forever before family papers uncovered by Alfred Pennyworth reveal a possible link between the murder of the Flying Graysons to the Crown Prince of Kravia, a tiny European dictatorship. Journeying to Kravia, Nightwing - in an updated costume - helps to topple the murderous Kravian leader and prevent diabolical "ethnic cleansing," while learning his parents' true connection to the Prince.
Also, Dick meets Miggie Webster and saves her from kidnappers. The ensuing romance is cut short, however, when it becomes clear Miggie hired the kidnappers to get her abusive father's attention.
