Holon - originally from ancient Greek, means a whole that is part of another whole. The three musicians of the New York / Berlin-based HOLON Trio use this term as a band name to outline their musical cosmos. For the three musicians, playing music in the trio is an elementary part of their musical interest, because here they have the opportunity to pass on their distinctive individualism and their emotions in an intimate atmosphere transformed into music to others. They use the diverse tonal possibilities of the piano trio, expanded by electronic elements and thus create a very high-contrast and innovative program. All three musicians compose their voices for the trio and manage to draw a homogenous common thread in the collective, which represents a mirror-image of the emotions for the listener, peppered with surprises.
Sometimes fragile, sometimes daring, the three outstanding young musicians experiment with each other and create the music they want to share with the world. They always rely on their connection to each other - a reciprocal and shared sense of the direction and expression their music can take. This creates a magic that is worth experiencing in any case.
Over the last few years, the trio grew together more and more due to a lot of gaming experience. With their second album "Shields down" (Berthold Records), the three musicians are releasing an incredibly honest and forward-looking album that creates an atmosphere that is close to current events. In a very own way, the sound of the instrumental piano trio is peppered with electronic elements and makes avant-garde experimental music accessible to its audience.
