Multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter has announced details of his debut album Maratea, set for release via Black Butter on the 29th June. Maratea is the perfect showcase for Leo’s incredible songwriting talents, his stunning baritone-esque vocals that belie his youth – he’s still only 23 years old – and his expansive musicianship across its 13 tracks. The album includes his singles ‘Home’, ‘5 Years Later’, ‘Lost’, ‘Gravity’ featuring Frances and ‘In My Blood’ - backed by Radio 1 on their BBC Introducing playlist, the song takes the most melodic parts of James Blake and mixes them with the pop nous of Ed Sheeran.

All this is not to say Leo isn’t already accumulated to the limelight. Hailing from Leicester, he self-released a string of singles that quickly caught people’s attention. He became the most streamed artist on YouTube channel Mahogany, has over 760,000 monthly listeners on Spotify with combined streams on the service of over 20 million and has collaborated with the likes of Kidnap Kid.

From the opening finger-plucked guitar lines of ‘Please Don’t,’ the gorgeous piano-led fragility of ‘Friday Nights’ and the title track that recalls the classic fragility of ‘O’-era Damien Rice, Maratea is a set of songs that draws the listener in, rich in soulful, folky soundscapes, luscious harmonies and immaculate melodies.

Maratea sees Leo working with the likes of Jonathan Quarmby (Benjamin Clementine/Jacob Banks/Gabrielle Aplin) and Rich Cooper (Tom Odell/Lucy Rose/The Mystery Jets).
