Antenna Magus Professional 2018 version 8.0.0 | 1.3 Gb

Magus (Pty) Ltd. and CST – Computer Simulation Technology AG (CST) announce the release of Antenna Magus 2018 version 8.0.0, the latest version of the leading antenna design tool. This release includes various features and improvements as well as a number of new antennas.

New Antennas and Arrays
- Elliptically-profiled TEM Horn antenna. [MAGUS-22853]
- Curved corrugated horn antenna. [MAGUS-18308]
- Triangular array layout. [MAGUS-23017]
Antenna Improvements
- The Rectangular stacked pin fed patch may now be designed for a specific relative permittivity. [MAGUS-2289]
- The minimum and maximum frequency headers are now consistent for the connector and waveguide libraries. [MAGUS-25122]
- The orientation of Vivaldi, LTSA and LPDA antennas has been changed to improve ease of comparison. [MAGUS-25267,MAGUS-25351]
- The CST export model for the Axial-choke elliptical horn antenna has been improved. [MAGUS-25382]
- When Estimating the performance of the Planar blade antenna, the impact of the value of the 'notch2' variable was not correctly accounted for. [MAGUS-25411]
- When designing the Pattern-fed Gregorian dual-reflector antenna, certain objective combinations may have caused an exception. This has been fixed. [MAGUS-25376]
- The default reference impedance value for the Vertical trapezoidal monopole has been changed to the correct value of 50 Ohm. [MAGUS-24069]
- A large number of existing antenna Templates have been expanded to allow faster Performance Estimation for default design cases and to have more flexible Tweaking options.
New or improved functionality
- Spatial Limitations - representing available length, area or volume - may be added to Specifications. Each design is compared with these limitations to determine whether it could fit and the closest fit is shown in Design Mode and the Compare Window.
- The 3D Preview view of all designs may be panned (shifted) in addition to the zoom and rotate already available in previous updates.
- The legends for all traces that are calculated during Performance Estimation and the names of all Charts have been made more consistent to enable easier comparison in Design Mode and in the Compare Window.
- Some Objectives in some antenna Templates can only accept a fixed number of discrete values. When using a Specification for Design, the closest acceptable value is now chosen where the Specification value does not exactly match the discrete values. This improves the validity of the design for the Specification. [MAGUS-25418]
- Toolbox calculators now have default values. [MAGUS-25085]
- Caching of 3D preview models of Antenna Designs in the application state has been added to improve performance. [MAGUS-25194,MAGUS-25224,MAGUS-25217]
- Antenna Magus now indicates higher-order modes where these may be relevant. [MAGUS-24475]
- 10 dB beamwidth (rather than 3 dB beamwidth) can be used in Specifications. More Templates will be expanded in future updates to use this specified value directly for design. [MAGUS-25139, MAGUS-22851]
Bug Fixes
- The installer now correctly removes the GettingStarted folder on un-install/update. [MAGUS-23556]
- The positioning of Bounding Box values on the 3D Preview has been improved. [MAGUS-25160]
- When changing selection of the Prototypes in the Collection, unnecessary Snapshot designs may have been triggered in some cases. This has been corrected. [MAGUS-22913]
- For some Waveguide-fed antennas a reference impedances may have been shown with impedance charts. This value was not sensible and is no longer shown. [MAGUS-22638]
- When starting up Antenna Magus, Custom Tags in Find Mode may have resulted in an exception. This has been fixed. [MAGUS-25263]
- When starting up Antenna Magus, Custom Tags used in Find Mode may have been duplicated. This has been fixed. [MAGUS-24216]
- Previews update correctly now when dragging a parameter's slider. [MAGUS-25388]
- The Bounding Box is now hidden in the 3D Preview if the coordinates/size is 0. [MAGUS-25260]
- Frequency is now shown correctly in the Skin Depth Tool. [MAGUS-25076]
- The deleting action of traced points and Anchor/Point mode of the Chart Tracer Grid has been fixed. [MAGUS-25092]
- Adding, selecting and deleting trace points in the different modes of Chart Tracer Tool has been fixed. [MAGUS-25092]
- Specifications Editor now suggests Keywords for all property groups, not only the first one. [MAGUS-25414]
- 3D Preview colors and lighting have been improved. [MAGUS-25138]
- Cancel button for Performance Estimation now works correctly. [MAGUS-24688]
- Reverting to a backup now correctly keeps the specification used in a design [MAGUS-25419]
- If all Property Groups of a specific type were deleted from a Specification, Antenna Magus may have shown an exception on startup. This has been fixed. [MAGUS-25515]
- Cartesian graphs with dB Y-axis used to only plot up to 40 dB. This has been fixed. [MAGUS-21743]

Antenna Magus Professional 2018 version 8.0.0

About Antenna Magus. Antenna Magus is a software tool to help accelerate the antenna design and modelling process. It increases efficiency by helping the engineer to make a more informed choice of antenna element, providing a good starting design. Validated antenna models can be exported to CST MICROWAVE STUDIO from a huge antenna database which means that the engineer can get to the customisation phase of an antenna design quickly and reliably.

Antenna Magus has proven to be an invaluable aid to antenna design engineers and anyone who requires antenna models for antenna placement and/or electromagnetic interference studies.

About MAGUS (Pty) Ltd. MAGUS (Pty) Ltd. develops antenna design and information management software. Antennas designed using its software can be used in a wide variety of applications at various frequency bands, including, but not limited to, telecommunications, mobile devices, aerospace, satellite, automotive, radio astronomy and defense.
