ATF announced the release of xStream 1.0.1101 build 2021.06.15 is a powerful fluid dynamic simulation tool for high-speed, acoustic transients that occur in steam and gas piping systems.

    Changes for Version Date 2021.06.15

Changes to computation logic that could impact results
    - Difference Exit forces incorrectly accounted for ambient pressure on the nozzle area. This has been corrected to only include the momentum force. The ambient pressure force is balanced on the other side of the difference pair.
    - Fixed elevation changes along pipes not being accounted for correctly. The sign of the elevation change was not correct, so elevation increases would mistakenly show an increase in energy down the pipe.
Changes that do not impact results
    - Fixed an issue where the Graph Parameters Form was not reinitializing properly when changes are made to the model.
    - Fixed some PDF/RTF export issues for Print Preview.
    - Fixed an issue where the format menu for Graph titles was showing scaling values. Setting the values would cause an error.
    - Fixed an issue where custom plot names are not showing for stacked graphs.
    - Added function for Materials linking with Import Piping Layout.
    - Fixed an issue where the 'Special Condition' menu item was not functioning properly.
    - Fixed an issue where renaming a scenario below the current scenario on the scenario tree would deactivate the current scenario.
    - Fixed an issue where the Graph format menu would appear on the wrong screen.
    - Fixed a color map refresh issue for Visual Report.
    - Fixed the crosshair label for graphs to show the correct parameter
    - Fixed an issue that prevented the Overview Map from opening.
    - Output will no longer clear when OK is clicked in Analysis Setup when no changes were made.

AFT xStream is a powerful fluid dynamic simulation tool for high-speed, acoustic transients that occur in steam and gas piping systems. Uncertainty in design and operations costs money and time. Now you can accurately simulate how your steam and gas systems will respond to potentially harmful transient events.

AFT xStream incorporates a steady-state solver providing seamless transfer of initial conditions to the transient analysis. Steady-state solutions are determined using a modified Newton-Raphson matrix iteration. The traditional Method of Characteristics is used to solve the transient mass and momentum equations of pipe flow.

    AFT xStream

Steam and gas transients are time-dependent deviations from steady-state operating point. For example, a relief system reacting to an over-pressure event would cause a transient event. The ability to be proactive in the transient analysis of steam and gas systems is important for any piping system. It is important to the reliability, sustainability, and overall safety of a system.
Founded in 1993, Applied Flow Technology is a leader in the pipe flow modeling software market. With a primary focus on developing high quality fluid flow analysis software, AFT has a comprehensive line of products for the analysis and design of piping and ducting systems.
