CAMWorks 2022 SP4 build 2022/0902 (28 Sep-2022) what's new

1. CW-116304 CSR/-20910 TechDB In Turn mode, when you right click on any Turn feature in the feature tree and select parameters to view the Feature Parameters dialog box, by clicking on the TechDB ID on the strategy drop-down list launches TechDB application and displays the features and operations. However, data for the wrong TechDB ID is getting displayed.
2. CW-116058 CSR-20770 APIs Option to assign Work coordinate offset in Assembly through APIs must be made available.
3. CWR-2054 –– Toolpath When the 3 Axis Mill Toolpath generation method is set to ‘Advanced’, the Offset Curve option 'Contain only' for Constant Stepover operations behaves like "Contain and Avoid", resulting in incorrect toolpaths.
4. CWR-2048 CSR-20603 Toolpath When the 3 Axis Mill Toolpath generation method is set to ‘Advanced’, for the specific part’s Area Clearance toolpath, the tool diameter is 100% engaged in the 'Area Clearance' 'Pocket In Core' pattern due to incorrectly considering the stock geometry with XY stepover.
5. CWR-2044 CSR-20516 Toolpath When the 3 Axis Mill Toolpath generation method is set to ‘Advanced’ and the toolpath is generated for the specific part using Lace Pattern, the resultant toolpath thus has inconsistent behavior for entry moves.
6. CW-115904 CSR-20694 Assembly When the Save Operation Plan command is executed for the specific Assembly having a sequence of multiple operations, it causes CAMWorks and CAMWorks Solids to crash.
7. CW-115762 CSR-20615 Assembly If CAMWorks is loaded as an Add-in within SOLIDWORKS and for a specific Assembly, if its SOLIDWORKS pattern is edited to increase the number of instances in a specific direction, then it causes CAMWorks/SOLIDWORKS to crash.
8. CW-115397 CSR-20495 TechDB When customized TechDB is used in Metric mode and user navigates to User Defined Tools within the Mill Tooling menu, the concerned user interface fails to launch.
9. CW-115356 CSR-20392 User Interface In Assembly mode, for any operation when the holder is changed from ‘user defined’ to ‘basic’, the holder information gets updated, but the corresponding image and the model does not get updated and remains the user defined only.
10. CW-115309 CSR-20399 Simulation When using Fixture Avoidance with “Avoid All” option is used for the Contour Mill toolpath of the specific Mill part, the NC code crashes but the Contour Mil toolpath move causing the crash is not visible when executing Simulation.
11. CW-115266 CSR-20385 Simulation For specific tool with Overall Length (L1) equal to Shoulder Length (L4), a Tool Shank value of zero thickness gets passed to CAMWorks Virtual Machine resulting in collision errors during simulation.
12. CWR-2038 CSR-20355 Toolpath When the 3 Axis Mill Toolpath generation method is set to ‘Advanced’ and a Pattern Project toolpath is generated for a filleted surface of a specific mill part, the resultant toolpath is making an incorrect liner link move from the vertical feature edge geometry.
13. CWR-2033 CSR-20153 Toolpath When the 3 Axis Mill Toolpath generation method is set to ‘Advanced’ and a Z Level toolpath is generated for a specific part using a tool with tapered non-cutting portion, a poor quality toolpath is generated. Increasing the toolpath length amount causes more cycle time. This issue was not present in CAMWorks 2019 version.
14. CWR-2031 CSR-20136 Toolpath When the 3 Axis Mill Toolpath generation method is set to ‘Advanced’ and a Z Level toolpath is generated for the specific part using Ramp linking type, the link moves move off the feature surface and tool contact is lost.
15. CW-115000 CSR-20093 Toolpath For the specific Mill-Turn part, the Link move of its Area Clearance toolpath runs through uncut stock with no control available for retracting in Z. This is happening due to presence of an unnecessary feed move.
16. CWR-2027 CSR-19989 Toolpath When the 3 Axis Mill Toolpath generation method is set to ‘Advanced’ and an Area Clearance toolpath is generated for the specific Mill part, the toolpath contains an incorrect arc with wrong end point causing error on the CAMWorks Virtual Machine.
17. CWR-2026 CSR-19943 Toolpath In Mill mode, when Z Level toolpaths are generated using the Advanced Method, if the cut type for Z level toolpath is changed to ‘helical’, then it still uses the horizontal arc parameters for calculating toolpath moves though they are not supported for the helical cut type.
18. CW-114583 CSR-19839 Operation For Multiaxis mill operation, under Links tab, if you switch from % (Percentage) to mm for the Links threshold parameter, then it displays a value computed on the basis of 50% of the tool diameter instead of 50% of the max stepover.
19. CW-114553 CSR-19821 Rebuild When the specific part file (created in CAMWorks 2016 SP2 version and last saved in 2021Plus SP3 version) is opened in CAMWorks 2022 SP1 version, CAMWorks prompts for a Rebuild of toolpaths which consequently causes its some of its Part Setups to get corrupted. Moreover, CAMWorks does not allow saving of the file.
20. CW-114551 CSR-18414 TechDB In the Technology Database shipped with CAMWorks, the Tap-Cutting Strategies for Threading under Mill Tooling, must Sub-Spindle setup strategies. Currently, they are not supported.
21. CW-114512 CSR-19785 CSR-20128 System In Turn/Mill-Turn mode, if Z-axis direction is reversed for the user-defined Fixture Coordinate System (FCS), then it does not generate Turn operations under Sub Spindle Setup from the correct direction as the tool orientation is incorrect. This issue is not observed for FCS defined using SOLIDWORKS FCS.
22. CW-114492 CSR-19762 Rebuild For specific part, Toolpath doesn't get updated when unsuppressing the Solid Body.
23. CW-114337 CSR-19639 Configuration For the specific Assembly, the CAMWorks data gets corrupted when user switches to another configurationpresent within the assembly file and then reverts to the previous configuration. A warning message stating that CAM data cannot be restored gets displayed.
24. CW-113733 CSR-19387 Toolpath Offset Roughing: An issue in the made toolpath, the same pass has been taken repeatedly.
25. CWR-2021 CSR-19612 Toolpath For the specific Assembly file, color settings have been assigned CAMWorks Options UI for 3 Axis Finish toolpath moves (yellow) and Link moves (green). On generating Z Level toolpath with zigzag pattern, it is observed that the finish moves are displayed in green (instead of yellow) as it considers those moves as link moves.
26. CWR-2020 CSR-19596 Toolpath In Mill mode, whenever any Area Clearance toolpath (for which an Automatic Contain Area with Method set to “All Silhouettes” has been assigned) is generated using ‘Advanced’ method of 3 Axis Mill toolpath generation, it is observed that the toolpath gets generated beyond the Contain Area.
27. CWR-2016 CSR-19516 Toolpath When the 3 Axis Mill Toolpath generation method is set to ‘Advanced’ and the Area Clearance operation is generated for the specific Mill part, it is observed that its toolpath has a retract move with excess height that doesn’t consider the applied parameter value during the toolpath link. This occurs even though the Method is set to “Skim”.
28. CWR-2015 CSR-19501 Toolpath When the 3 Axis Mill Toolpath generation method is set to ‘Advanced’ and a Slice Pattern toolpath is generated for the specific Mill Assembly, it is observed that the toolpath doesn’t apply uniform scallop distance for the XY stepover.
29. CWR-2014 CSR-19471 Toolpath When the 3 Axis Mill Toolpath generation method is set to ‘Advanced’ and toolpaths are generated for three identical operations differing only in Machine Deviation for a specific Mill Assembly, one of the toolpaths fails togenerate. The toolpath for the operation with Mach. Deviation 0.001 does not get generated and an ‘Error 105’ message is displayed.
30. CWR-2011 CSR-19356 Toolpath When the 3 Axis Mill Toolpath generation method is set to ‘Advanced’ and a 3D Stepover Flowline Pattern Project toolpath is generated for the specific Mill part, it is observed that the toolpath misses many passes, which is not optimal machining.
31. CW-112980 CSR-19032 Translation In Chinese Traditional language version of CAMWorks, it is observed that the translation of certain VoluMill parameters is incorrect.
32. CW-112870 CSR-18950 VoluMill For the specific part, VoluMill toolpath for a wrapped slot feature has some moves with angle rotation greater than 180deg, which causes the tool to crash through the part because the machine follows the shortest path.
33. CW-112840 CSR-18875 Turn Adding a sub spindle operation removes all existing sync codes from the sync manager.
34. CW-112802 CSR-18833 User Interface Indexing selection reverts to Automatic upon closing and opening Part Set Up Parameters - Indexing tab.
35. CWR-1995 CSR-18383 Toolpath When the 3 Axis Mill Toolpath generation method is set to ‘Advanced’ and a Z Level operation is generated to machine the mill part from the very top of the mill part within a defined contain area, the Slope options are not allowing the tool to begin machining at the top of the mill part when ‘Contact Areas only’ checkbox is unchecked.
36. CW-111783 CSR-18288 TechDB Within the customized TechDB, user has assigned a userdefined strategy for circular pocket features and assignedit as the default strategy. However, when Extract Machinable Features command is executed, the newly assigned default strategy is not assigned to circular pockets.
37. CW-111517 CSR-18056 Configurations For specific assembly, defining origin by 'Part bounding box vertex' in FCS window is showing the error message "Selected entity conflict with the existing selection" when switching the CW Configuration.
38. CW-111010 CSR-17873 Toolpath The Turn Rough Step In toolpath Issue for specific part.
39. CW-110807 CSR-17701 VoluMill The cut amount is generated incorrectly in the VoluMill toolpath when the rest machining "from WIP" is selected.
40. CW-110721 CSR-17737 VoluMill When VoluMill 2axis is set to Rest Machining using the "Previous Leftover", the toolpath is not correct if GTP from the Mill Setup.
41. CW-109646 CSR-17067 Post In Turn mode, the Edit Toolpath functionality doesn’t support Z Moves though the XZ section. Consequently, these moves don’t get posted in the NC code resulting in errors.
42. CW-107802 CSR-16440 Mill-Turn In Mill-Turn mode, the Sub-Spindle Work Coordinate Offsets for the Mill Part Setups don’t get updatedcorrectly.
43. CW-107801 CSR-16448 Toolpath For the specific Turn part, on toolpath generation, one of its Bore Finish toolpaths changes its retract move which leads to overcutting (Gouge) of the part during rapid move. This happens though “Gouge Check” option is checked.
44. CW-107036 CSR-16150 Toolpath Inconsistent chamfer toolpath for identical features in a feature group.
45. CW-106645 CSR-15852 Toolpath Rest Machining and WIP generates Irregular toolpath after drill size changes.

47. CW-104591 CSR-15003 Toolpath Unexpected Offset Roughing toolpath with multiple air segments.
48. CW-102642 CSR-14080 CSR-16780 CSR-17650 Feed Speed When F/S parameter is defined using a Tool, then an option to adjust the feed rate if RPM is changed due to Max RPM limit must be made available.
49. CW-102507 CSR-14107 VoluMill If Rest machining option is selected then 2.5 axis VoluMill toolpath, then it does not follow the defined depth of cut for machining.
50. CW-102419 CSR-14056 Feature When a 2.5 Axis Mill Curve feature is created using ‘Auto select edges for chamfering ‘ option (for both planar and non-planar edges) and the 'Flip direction to cut' option is selected, the material direction for the curve feature doesn’t get updated on clicking the OK button.
51. CW-100008 CSR-13142 Toolpath For the specific Mill part, if a Contain Area has been defined, then the Ramp moves of the Contour Mill toolpath with Ramp get generated correctly but don’t follow the assigned depth within the contain area.

CAMWorks 2022 SP4

CAMWorks for SOLIDWORKS was the first fully integrated computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) solution designed exclusively to operate in SOLIDWORKS and the first to offer knowledge-based, feature recognition, and associative machining capabilities within SOLIDWORKS.

CAMWorks uses the same SOLIDWORKS geometry to generate toolpaths to ensure the part you machine is the same part you’ve modeled. Toolpath simulation allows users to compare “as designed” parts to “as machined” parts. The part model-to-toolpath associativity in CAMWorks increases machining productivity and lowers manufacturing costs by eliminating time-consuming CAM system rework due to design updates.

CAMWorks eliminates the drudgery of CNC programming with Intelligent Machining through automation. Pioneered by Geometric Technologies, this suite of tools automates the generation of toolpaths based on a knowledge-based database. It eliminates hours of complex programming through Automatic Feature Recognition (AFR) that automatically defines prismatic machinable features, while the TechDBTM (Technology Database) defines machining operations to automatically generate accurate toolpaths at the click of a button.

CAMWorks machining modules include: 2½ Axis Mill, 3 Axis Mill, Turning, Mill-Turn with 5 Axis Simultaneous Machining Support, 4/5 Axis Simultaneous Machining, and Wire EDM.
