InnovMetric Software Inc., has released intermediate release the 2018 release of PolyWorks. This release empowers users to create and deliver shop-floor-ready inspection projects that are directly playable with any 3D measurement devices.

Intermediate Release 11.1

CMM plug-ins
- The following issues have been fixed when using the I++ CMM plug-in:
. An issue resulting in the use of an incorrect approach speed has been fixed.
. An issue when picking a tool orientation and the Split tools and tool orientations check box is selected has been fixed. The probe head angles proposed when a tool orientation does not exist are now correct.

Intermediate Release 11

General
- The latest release of Spatial’s 3D InterOp CAD import technology has been integrated. The following formats can now be imported.
. SolidWorks 2019
. CATIA V5 version V5-6R2019
. 3DExperience (CATIA V6) exported using version V6 R2019
PolyWorks|Inspector
- In order to comply with the ISO GPS standard, plane and cone datum features in DRF calculations now use Chebyshev fits, also known as the Minimax fit method.
- In order to comply with the ISO GPS standard, new rank-order size modifiers have been added to calculate specific information when using the Local Diameter GD&T tool. The (SX), (SN), (SA), (SM), and (SD) rank-order size modifiers can now be specified in the second list box of the new Modifiers column.
- The median line is an important part of GD&T calculations, but it is an internal construction that is invisible to the user. To allow the user to better understand its results, and for troubleshooting purposes, it is now possible to display the median line.
. Right-clicking a control in the Geometry Controls pane and choosing Create Features > From Median Line creates one or more feature primitives from the median line of the selected GD&T control. This item is available for the controlsof cylinder features.
. A polyline representing the calculated median line is created and displayed in the 3D scene. In the tree view, - median line is also displayed next to the feature primitive.
- When editing the target alignment of device positions, it is now possible to ignore specific targets that are matched manually. Targets that are ignored are excluded from the target alignment as well as from alignment statistics
- Fixed issues:
. A software crash when editing GD&T controls has been fixed.
. Issues when calculating GD&T controls on cylinders using the ISO standard have been fixed.
. Issues with the PDF export of reports have been fixed.
Portable metrology plug-ins
- The Faro Laser Tracker plug-in now offers the new Follow Me functionality when using the VantageS or VantageE laser tracker models. This functionality enables the tracker to search for the active target if it is no longer within the tracker’s line of sight. The search for the lost target is performed within the specified search radius with respect to the target’s last known location.
- The Gesture recognition trigger to find target using camera functionality of the Faro Laser Tracker plug-in, which used to be offered on the Control tab of the probing device properties, has been moved to the Tool tab and has been renamed:
. For the VantageS and VantageE laser tracker models, it has been renamed Find Me.
. For the Vantage laser tracker model, it has been renamed Gestures.
- A software freeze in the Faro Laser Tracker plug-in when using the 6Probe accessory has been fixed
CMM plug-ins
- When using the CNC CMM plug-in, temperature compensation for the axes can now be performed by PolyWorks|Inspector if it is not performed by the machine controller. When defining the machine, the Temperature compensation tab now offers the Software axis compensation section, which is used to specify the temperature compensation method.
. None– This value indicates that no temperature compensation is performed by PolyWorks|Inspector. It must be specified if temperature compensation for the axes is already performed by the machine controller.
. From Coefficient and Temperature– This value indicates that temperature compensation is performed by PolyWorks|Inspector. The compensation is performed by scaling measurements according to the temperature of the encoder’s scale for each axis. When this method is specified, the following parameters are offered:
.. Reference temperature– Used to specify the reference temperature to which measurements are converted. The default value is 20 °C, or 68 °F, as specified by the ISO 1 international standard.
.. Coefficient of thermal expansion– Used to specify the coefficient of thermal expansion that corresponds to the material with which the encoder’s scale is made of.
.. Temperature– Used to specify the temperature of the encoder’s scale for each axis.
.. Scaling factor– Indicates the scaling factor that is applied to measurements for each axis. This value is based on the coefficient of thermal expansion as well as on the difference between the reference temperature and the encoder’s scale temperature.
- When using the CNC CMM plug-in, the Tools > Adjust to Current Device, the Tools > Compute New Tool Orientations, and the Edit > Mirror operations of the Sequence Editor have been improved. Those operations now support probe heads that are offset from the mounting shank as well as the tip orientations of star styli and L-shaped styli.
- Issues with the I++ CMM plug-in when using a UCC server have been fixed.
