The Pointwise CFD product team is pleased to announce the availability of Pointwise 18.4 Release 3. The latest release includes a native interface to the AzoreCFD flow solver.

Pointwise 18.4 Release 3 Release Notes - Date: February 2021

    New Features
    - AzoreCFD is now supported as a CAE Solver.
    - The default CAE solver and Overset Assembler can now be set in Edit, Preferences
    - ANSYS CFX now allows spaces in boundary condition names.

    Resolved Issues
PW-20641 Projection to a plane caused a domain to incorrectly change shape.
PW-22190 Mirroring a database model resulted in errors and the model being corrupted.
PW-23235 A structured block’s solved interior was not being preserved when the file was saved.
PW-23242 Using Edit, Extract with an imported .obj file led to an expected exit.
PW-23257 When a domain’s view setting was set to Boundaries Only, the interior was not being displayed in Grid, Solve.
PW-23259 Export to CGNS failed due to opposing normals on a Match domain.
PW-23261 A very large block could not be initialized.
PW-23263 Glyph manual page has been updated with current distribution types
PW-23265 There was a lack of agreement between a glyph script and the GUI when a specific distribution type was set in the script.
PW-23269 Database lines from a very old file were not able to be group selected and deleted.
PW-23272 Changing the Dimension using Grid, Dimension caused a domain to not properly acknowledge a source.
PW-23274 Database associativity was incorrectly causing cell count to be too high.
PW-23275 An ANSYS .cas file was not being imported correctly.
PW-23303 A valid EGADS file could not be imported.
PW-23310 A 320 million cell mesh was not able to be exported in P2 higher order.
PW-23313 CART3D exporter was not recognizing more than one volume condition.
PW-23322 A connection with a block in an off layer was selectable in the CAE, Boundary Conditions.
PW-23324 GMSH Volume conditions were being lost when exporting files with an order higher than one.
PW-23336 A block initialization was ignoring the user set decay value.
PW-23374 Connectors with Automatic Distribution could not be joined if the angle between them was high.
PW-23377 An error occurred when joining multiple unstructured blocks.
PW-23378 Details have been added to the user manual as to why surface quads may be split during block initialization.
PW-23381 A copied source was not visible if the original’s display type was set to wireframe.
PW-23392 A connector distribution was being disproportionately altered by the block solver.

Pointwise is solving the top problem facing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) today – reliably generating high-fidelity meshes. The company's Pointwise software generates structured, unstructured, overset and hybrid meshes; interfaces with CFD solvers such as ANSYS FLUENT, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, and SU2 as well as many neutral formats, such as CGNS; runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac, and has a scripting language, Glyph, that can automate CFD meshing. Manufacturing firms and research organizations worldwide have relied on Pointwise as their complete CFD preprocessing solution since 1994.

The latest release of Pointwise’s computational fluid dynamics (CFD) mesh generation software includes a native interface to the AzoreCFD flow solver. In addition to the AzoreCFD plugin, Pointwise Version 18.4 R3 includes several smaller productivity enhancements.

AzoreCFD is a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software tool for analyzing fluid flow and heat transfer. CFD provides engineers and scientists a method for analyzing a wide array of fluid mechanic, thermal, and chemical problems numerically on a computer. Many different types of fluid dynamic situations can be simulated using AzoreCFD, including air, gas, liquid, or particulate-laden flows.
