The HEEDS Design Space Exploration team is pleased to announce the availability of HEEDS MDO 2019.1. The new version of HEEDS offers more options for implementation of complex variable relationships that allow you to simplify the definition ofstudy relationships.

The release of HEEDS 2019.1 is full of new features and upgrades to further improve your experience.

HEEDS 2019.1 offers more options for implementation of complex variable relationships that allow you to simplify the definition of your study. To help you get more information from the study data, HEEDS|POST now provides the Boruta method to evaluate sensitivities. Users can leverage Rescale cloud computing in new and improved ways to discover design insights quicker and earlier in the design process saving you time and money.

HEEDS 2019.1 is packed with enhancements that continue to streamline design space exploration through improved automated analysis tools, processes and results. We hope these updates will help you to continue to drive innovation and discover better designs, faster!

NEW PORTAL MESSAGING DEBUGGING
A new debugging feature was added to HEEDS portals in this release to better support the user through improved messages when something unexpected happens with the simulation tool driven by a HEEDS portal.

MORE OPTIONS FOR STUDY RELATIONSHIPS
The new Study Relationships feature introduced in HEEDS 2018.10 has been extended and further improved with the introduction of inequality relationships. This significantly expands the application field and allows for easier implementation of complex variable relationships.

NEW BORUTA DESIGN SENSITIVITIES
The Response Influence Plot now has a new option to choose between the default DOE option or the new Boruta calculation option. Boruta provides insights into variable sensitivities for better understanding of the design and the design space. This helps determine how much each design variable affects responses, which allows the response influence plot to be available for any study type, not just DOE studies. The DOE studies will have both options available, while the other study types will only allow the influence plot to be based on the Boruta calculations. Once the Boruta option is selected, HEEDS|POST will compute and display important values for each design and dependent variable.

CUSTOMIZATION OF CONDITION AND COMMAND FOLDERS
Customers already have been using HEEDS processes with a high degree of flexibility in many different applications. We’re now extending this flexibility by giving the user full control of the execution location for the pre/run/post analysis commands and their condition.

NEW CUSTOM PLOT COLOR OPTIONS
Based on several requests to allow customization of contour color options, we’ve now introduced two major usability enhancements: Alternative color mappings for color plots/contours, and customization on the values associated to min and max colors.

NEW SUPPORT FOR RESCALE LICENSE TYPES
Access to the cloud resources provided by Rescale has never been easier. We’ve further enhanced the Rescale cluster UI to support on-demand licensing for analysis software.

HEEDS MDO is a robust multidisciplinary design optimization softwarepackage that automates the search for better solutions within a given design space and dramatically reduces design time.

HEEDS MDO enables you to quickly find designs that perform extremely well according to multiple criteria, while simultaneously satisfying multiple constraints and using a large number of variables. In an overnight run, HEEDS can produce results that would take weeks to accomplish manually.With HEEDS MDO, you have access toall of the following design exploration and optimization capabilities:

- Identifying optimal solutions within a given design space using advanced mathematical search algorithms and strategies.
- Performing multiple-objective, Pareto-optimization studies to generate a Pareto set of optimal designs which let you perform trade-off studies between conflicting objectives.Performingdesign of experiments (DOE) studies to examine how selected variables affect a design.
- Testing designs forrobustness and reliability to determine how sensitive a design is to expected variations in designated project variables.
- Executingand post-processing designs that you specify.

Depending on your project requirements, you may use HEEDS MDOto perform any of the above functions. On a given project, you might use more than one, selecting the one that is most appropriate for each stage of your project’s development. For example, you might set up a parameter optimization study and search for an optimized design that meets all of your objectives and constraints. After that, you might take your best design(s) and use a DOE study to identify critical tolerances based on the sensitivity of the design to certain variables. Individual designs couldbe studied further by testing their robustness and reliabilityin yet another study in the project.

Although the technology behind HEEDS MDO and its powerful search engine is complex, the software itself is user-friendly and easy to use. You do not need to be an expert in optimization theory in order to use it effectively. Simply create your design model with the analysis software you normally use. Then, set up your design studyin HEEDS MDO. When your studyruns, HEEDS MDOautomates and accelerates the natural design iteration process, using the same analysis tool(s) you used to create your design
