FeedDemon enables you to read RSS newsfeeds from your desktop, so you can browse information from dozens - or hundreds - of web sites without ever visiting them.
FeedDemon - одна из самых мощных программ для чтения новостей с сайтов по технологии RSS и XML. По сравнению с обычным просмотром сайтов через браузер, технология RSS имеет два существенных плюса: возможность практически полной автоматизации и значительное уменьшение обьема скачиваемых данных за счет отсутствия в получаемых новостях рекламы (нет ни баннеров, ни чего-либо еще) - и экономии времени к тому же.

In FeedDemon, an RSS feed is called a channel, and news items are displayed in newspapers for easy reading.
When you find a news item of interest, you can copy it to a news bin for future reference. News bins provide a very simple way to store items from different RSS feeds in one location, making them a great tool for researchers.
FeedDemon can also watch for items in RSS feeds which contain specific keywords, alerting you to stories of interest. For example, football fans could ask FeedDemon to watch for items about their favorite teams, or investors could watch for stories about companies in which they own stock.
If you're new to FeedDemon, make sure to step through the "Welcome" tutorial which introduces FeedDemon's basic concepts. You can access this tutorial by selecting Show Welcome from FeedDemon's Help menu.

What is RSS?
RSS provides a way for web sites to distribute their content outside of a web browser. A news web site might have an RSS newsfeed which contains breaking stories, while a magazine web site may provide a feed with excerpts of their latest articles.
An actual RSS file is nothing more than a list of items, each of which has a title, a description and a link to the web page where the item appears.

Новости можно сохранять в Группы и отслеживать по ключевым словам, запуская функцию Мониторинг. Отдельные рассылки RSS можно направлять в тематические списки или каналы. FeedDemon позволяет читать все новости в автономном режиме и вести поиск в контенте. Для подписки на рассылки следует ввести URL источника или импортировать файл OPML (Outline Processor Markup Language). OPML (еще один формат XML) может применяться для совместного использования информации прикладными программами. В специальном окне удобно вести онлайновый поиск OPML-файлов и RSS-каталогов.
