Warhammer 40000: Space Marine (2011)

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine takes place in the brutal, science fiction setting of Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 universe. In the 41st Millennium, humanity faces extinction at the hands of horrific aliens and demonic hordes. Only one force offers salvation, the superhuman Space Marines. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is an intense Action-RPG featuring epic battles where players take direct control of the ultimate defender of humanity, the mighty Space Marine.


Space Marine does not feature a cover system. As a Space Marine, you are given enhanced regenerative abilities and an Iron Halo shield. When health gets low, performing sync kills can allow Titus to get a portion of his health back. You are accompanied by Sidonus and Leandros for most of the missions, though in some instances you will have to go on solo missions. The game features a fury system that, when filled up, allows you to either slow time for aiming or to unleash a devastating melee attack.


Your starting weapons include a Chainsword (Power Sword if preordered game through THQ), a Bolt Pistol and a Bolter, though the player can acquire other weapons ranging from Plasma Guns and Lascannons to mighty Thunder Hammers. The game includes a new weapon not featured in the actual table-top game known as the Vengeance Launcher, which can shoot mines.


The main antagonists the player must fight are the Orks and the Forces of Chaos. The Orks are an alien race whose sheer numbers and brutish warriors make a devastating opponent. The Forces of Chaos on the other hand are a far more serious threat who can literally extinguish the life of whole star systems by summoning nearly limitless amounts of horrors that flourish in a parallel universe known as The Warp. Portals conjured by the Traitor Legions (renegade Space Marines) allow the daemons to cross over into real-space.

Nel 41esimo millenno, l'umanità deve fronteggiare l'estinzione per mano di alieni raccapriccianti e orde demoniache. Solo i supersoldati Space Marine sono in grado di salvarli. Warhammer 40.000: Space Marine è un RPG d'azione caratterizzato da battaglie epiche dove i giocatori ricopriranno il ruolo di Space Marine, l'ultimo difensore dell'umanità.

La combinazione di un corpo a corpo intenso e il combattimento a distanza, mette i giocatori nei panni di uno dei soldati d’elite dell’umanità.
Questi soldati hanno subito anni di condizionamento psico-chimico e formazione rigorosa e non c’è mai stato un momento come questo in cui ci sia stato il disperato bisogno di tale preparazione. Uno dei pianeti industriali ‘Forge World‘, dove l’umanità crea le sue armi migliori, è stato oggetto di attacco, e le migliaia di soldati imperiali sono stati sopraffatti. L’unica cosa in piedi tra questo pianeta e la sua totale distruzione è lo Space Marine.


Space Marine è una frenetica battaglia in terza persona che permette ai giocatori di indossare l’armatura di uno degli imperatori scelto in questa guerra per la sopravvivenza stessa dell’umanità. I giocatori scendono subito in azione, nella loro lotta per difendere un mondo Imperiale da un’invasione da parte degli Orki selvaggi e brutali, utilizzando le armi più devastanti che l’umanità ha a sua disposizione.

Il gameplay è dunque rivolto a quelle persone che amano alla follia gli hack’n’slash duri e puri.
Dalla nostra e con estrema cattiveria, potremo utilizzare quattro armi di varia potenza di fuoco fra cui pistole, fucili a pompa modificati, fucili da cecchino, lancia granate, lanciafiamme e mitragliatrici per quanto riguarda gli scontri dalla distanza (e le granate che non guastano mai). Negli scontri corpo a corpo invece, la nostra arma principale sarà una lama sega (poi a scelta arriverà un martellone o l’ascia) che falcidierà chiunque si avvicini al nostro personaggio. Le armi però, variano fra utilità e soddisfazione difatti il gioco si potrebbe affrontare quasi tutto solamente combattendo corpo a corpo.
