    Altair FluxMotor 2020.0.0

    Altair FluxMotor 2020.0.0 | 1.8 Gb

Altair announces most significant software update release in company history. Altair FluxMotor 2020 - now includes thermal and acoustics evaluation.

All of Altair’s software products have been updated with advancements in user experience and countless new features, including intuitive workflows that empower users to streamline product development, allowing customers to get to market faster.

The software update release expands on the number of solutions available for designers, engineers, data analysts, IT and HPC professionals, facility managers, and more to drive better decisions and accelerate the pace of innovation. It broadens the scope of the new user experience, enables access to more physics, data analytics, and machine learning, and makes the Altair software delivery method more flexible and accessible.

This new version allows to go through two significant milestones dealing with the Multiphysics approaches in FluxMotor. On one hand, there is an introduction of thermal design and test in Motor Factory for both synchronous machines and induction machines, with inner rotor.

On the other hand, the capability to perform NVH prediction in early electromagnetic design stage. Motor Factory design environment has been updated to allow the integration of the thermal without degrading the user-friendly GUI which is one of the main competitive advantages of FluxMotor.

All the added new features are shortly described below followed by an update about issues and bugs.

    Thermal in FluxMotor

    Motor Factory – Design
Thermal add-ons have been implemented into the Motor Factory design environment to consider thermal devices associated to the machine to be designed.Indeed, the housing can be built with fins or/and with cooling circuit. The shaft is now linked with the endplate of the machine with bearings. The end-windings can be encapsulated with potting and impregnation also can now be added.

Two new areas entirely dedicated to thermal allows to define very precisely external and internal cooling areas. Hence, all thermal parameters can be defined and adjusted to automatically build the corresponding 3D thermal circuit of the whole machine.

At each step of thermal input definition, the outputs allow to visualize the thermal parameters of the machine versus the rotation speed, fluid temperatures, fluid debit and temperature in the cooling circuit or external fluid temperature.

    Motor Factory – Thermal test
This test allows to evaluate the impact of electromagnetic performance on thermal behavior of the machine. The non-linear solving of the resulting 3D thermal circuit leads to chart of temperature of the machine by considering a set of losses as input.

    NVH prediction in FluxMotor

These tests allow to perform NVH prediction in early electromagnetic design stage.
    - Computation of radiated sound power corresponding to a working point characterized by current, control angle and speed (NVH evaluation – Working point – I,,N) Note that the resulting forces on teeth are computed and displayed.
    - Spectrogram based on several working points characterized by current, control angle and speed (NVH evaluation – Spectrogram – I,,N)
    - Spectrogram based on several working points characterized by torque and speed (NVH evaluation – Spectrogram – T-N).

    Additional improvements
    - A new supervisor for a better visualization and selection of applications and motors types
    - The new licensing system is ready to be addressed with Altair FluxMotor. The license setup dialog box has been updated.
    - Issues have been fixed
