The Team CFturbo announced the launch of CFturbo 2025 R2.0 (117) is a powerful software product for interactive design of turbomachinery. This version contains a number of significant enhancements.
Higher usability and more flexibility in meridional design
More easy handling of curve segments, split feature, B-spline curves, and much more.
Flexible volute inlet direction
Volute inlet is no longer axis-parallel but can have any direction between axial and radial.
Variable blade fillet radius
Optional variable fillet radius around the blade defined by 4 values
Additional parameters for STL triangulation
New parameters "Grading" and "Element optimization" to control element size growth and get cmoother surface meshes
Flexible blade thickness application
Blade thickness ca be applied to meanline, suction side or pressure side
Allow for airfoil based stator design
Airfoil design for axial stators elternatively to meanline design, simular to axial impeller design
Add alias name optional for each batch parameter
Linear alias names (without tree structure) typically required for DoE and third-party optimization software
Read-only mode without license
Starting CFturbo in read-only mode does not require additional licenses for the components, but the project cannot be modified
Improved TCAE export interface
Adapted export format to support all TCAE modules, like TMESH, TCFD, TFEA, TCAA, TOPT
New export interface to CONVERGE
In addition to geometry, also includes mesh and solver settings
New export interfaces to Ansys Fluent< Discovery
Also supported within the CFturbo extension for Ansys Workbench
CFturbo is made to interactively design radial, mixed-flow and axial turbomachinery: pumps, ventilators, compressors, turbines. The software is easy to use and does enable quick generation and variation of impeller, stator and volute geometries. Several models can be displayed, compared and modified simultaneously. It contains numerous approximation functions that may be customized by the user in order to implement user specific knowledge into the CFturbo-based design process. In spite of the creation of semiautomatic proposals, fundamental experiences in turbomachinery design are helpful but not necessary. An experienced turbomachinery design engineer should be able to design new high-quality impellers and volutes more easily and quickly.
CFturbo FEA is a free-of-charge software for strength simulation of 3D geometry. It provides a compfortable GUI for open source software Calculix and allows the calculation of static stresses and deformations as well as modal analyses. With CFturbo FEA one can calculate the strength of pumps, blowers, fans, compressors and turbines.
