Seasick Steve releases his new album Can U Cook? via BMG Rights Management. The album has Steve mixing up all of his much-loved ingredients to deliver a fresh new record that’s full of sunshine, as well as being a good ol' Seasick mix of boogie, blues, rock, americana and folk-music.

The great Seasick Steve is back with of course his drummer Crazy Dan and also featuring Luther Dickinson from the North Mississippi Allstars, who will be touring with the others as they bring their live performances to possibly somewhere near you.

Of course we have those blues here, along with some foot stomping rock and other elements of Americana. Steve wanted to mix it up and give us something that had a colourful sunshine sound, and it has to be admitted that he has certainly done that. Listening to something like Sun on My Face made me think back a few weeks when I was sitting out on decking on holiday taking in the sun, a cup of tea to hand and my kindle as I chilled out.

To be honest this wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but on the other hand it is better and more interesting than I expected, which is all to the good. This should obviously do well with fans and introduce others to the talents of Steve, and perhaps remind many that he is more versatile than is often thought. In all then we have here another great album from someone who always delivers.
