Spiritchaser is the seventh studio album by Dead Can Dance, and the last before Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard went their separate ways. It expands on its exploration of world music, and like Into the Labyrinth, was recorded at Quivvy Church, Perry's personal studio in Ireland. The album was dedicated to Lisa Gerrard's deceased brother, Mark Gerrard. The track "Indus" contains a melody that is very similar to that of "Within You Without You", a Beatles song that George Harrison wrote and recorded with Indian musicians in 1967. Although not deliberate, Perry and Gerrard were asked to contact Harrison for his permission to use it; he granted it, but the record company insisted that they give him partial songwriting credit on "Indus".

Perry and Gerrard continued to experiment and improve with The Serpent's Egg, as much a leap forward as Spleen and Ideal was some years previously. As with that album, The Serpent's Egg was heralded by an astounding first track, "The Host of Seraphim." Its use in films some years later was no surprise in the slightest – one can imagine the potential range of epic images the song could call up – but on its own it's so jaw-droppingly good that almost the only reaction is sheer awe. Beginning with a soft organ drone and buried, echoed percussion, Gerrard then takes flight with a seemingly wordless invocation of power and worship – her vocal control and multi-octave range, especially towards the end, has to be heard to be believed. Nothing else achieves such heights, but everything gets pretty darn close, a deserved testament to the band's conceptual reach and abilities.

Two CD collection containing both of his cult classic electronic albums 'Emotional Disguise' (1982) and 'Correspondence' (1983). Plus all the spin-off singles and remixes from his time at Polydor, between 1981 and 1983, when he was one of the stylish lynchpins of the burgeoning New Wave / New Romantic scene! Mostly produced by Georg Kajanus from the bands Sailor and DATA, Peter's repertoire is synth- pop opulence, grandiose in scale and intent. Swoon in the melodic vastness, the majestic sweeps of lush, layered analogue synths. It is unmistakably ear-worm electronic pop, but with cinematic intimations of gloriously exotic other worlds. It presents, at times, as if an electronic travelogue of emotion fronted by the rich baritone of a suave matinée idol troubadour whose influences were unashamedly Moroder, Bowie and Ferry. It is arguably his highly sought after sensuous debut single, the Midge Ure produced 'Torch Songs For The Heroine', which has endured; the hidden gem of the 'Ballad Version' of which bristles with a redolence of Ultravox's 'Vienna' and it's landmark atmospheric, filmic, synth-pop sparseness. The release comes with a 28-page booklet containing both an introduction and comprehensive track-by-track listening notes written by Peter Godwin along with full lyrics and evocative period photographs.

This album is inspired by the history of the Hundred Years' War in the 15th Century, in which the brave and - in modern terms - emancipated young woman Jeanne D'Arc, the Virgin of Orléans, played an important key role. It is a musical hommage to the brave of this world and the principle of revolutionary thoughts and acts.
Jeanne D'Arc - the French heroine immortalized and appreciated in electronic music. This studio album was recorded shortly before the live concert in the Friedrichstadtkirche (French Cathedral) in Berlin in July 2005. Enjoy this exciting musical tribute.

Rudy Adrian’s second release on the Lotuspike label, Desert Realms, is a beautifully crafted study in deeply serene and contemplative soundscapes, exploring the spectacular stillness and vast landscape of the American Southwest desert. Rudy’s compositions are by themselves both vast and serene, but an additional level of emotion is provided by the poignant and moving flute expressions of Nick Prosser on a few of the tracks. Prosser’s stirring musical statements interact with Rudy’s vast soundscapes, filling the spectacular sonic vista with just the right amount of life and feeling; reminding the listener that although the desert realms may appear at first stark and barren, they are in fact full of life and captivating beauty.

One of the most prolific men in music, Bill Laswell doesn't release albums under his own name as often as he once did, which makes Book of Exit, the fourth in his "Dub Chamber" series, especially worthy of attention. While the previous "Dub Chamber" releases leaned more toward hard Jamaican-style dub music, with instruments dropping in and out and plenty of reverb and delay, this is altogether a different beat, in large part due to the vocals of Ethiopian singer Gigi. And what Laswell, Gigi, drummer/tabla player Karsh Kale, and percussionist Aiyb Dieng end up with is really ambient dub - something lighter and more flowing because it adapts itself to the vocals. And Gigi is in excellent form, possibly better than on her own debut, whether on "Ethiopia" or the memorable, beautiful "Jerusalem," which mixes a slight R&B inflection with dub for something outstanding, beautiful, and ethereal…

Songwriter and pianist Anne Clark has been a cult figure since the early '80s and has amassed a rather sizable catalog despite her small but rabid following. She writes nearly-Gothic love songs full of obsession and pathos, and pretty orchestral settings with clever instrumental figures and stinging piano runs and minor-key epiphanies. She's a consummate artist, playing to her strengths while trying to subtly, but surely, extend her reach, and always following her own muse, even when it takes her into dissonant territory. Most of her albums are out of print even on CD, and sell for collector's prices when they can be found. This is too bad, because Clark has assembled a solid, if quirky, and passionately honest body of work. This best-of issued by Beehive is truly that. It features 24 tracks and clocks in at over 75 minutes. Many of these are Clark's most lovely songs, such as "The Sitting Room," "All Night Party" (with Vini Reilly of Durutti Column), the "12" remix" of "Our Darkness," and "The Last Emotion," as well as instrumental themes such as "Swimming" and "An Ordinary Life".

Firestarter is an action-packed thriller with dark and sinister references. That description applies to the film and to Tangerine Dream's soundtrack. As a body of work, their film music is inconsistent and uneven. There are some outstanding scores and some real clunkers. This CD is a good one. The music has strong character and integrity and the classic TD sound with dark atmospheres.

Merging the edgier strains of rock and electronic, singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Aaron Bruno started AWOLNATION as a genre-fluid creative outlet that contrasted with the material he'd produced with previous outfits Home Town Hero and Under the Influence of Giants. Breaking into the mainstream with the multi-platinum international hit single "Sail," the project issued its debut, Megalithic Symphony, in 2011. As subsequent efforts pushed them toward the top of the charts, AWOLNATION soon surpassed all of Bruno's prior groups, becoming a popular alternative rock presence with efforts such as 2018's U.S. Indie chart-topper Here Come the Runts and 2020's Alternative Top 20 Angel Miners & the Lightning Riders. They took on cover tunes with 2022's My Echo, My Shadow, My Covers and Me, before returning to their original work with the 2023 Candy Pop EP.

A natural follow-up to ‘Breathe In’ in both sound and meaning, ‘Breathe Out’ sees a new, healthier and reconnected Armin van Buuren deliver the second and final part of his ninth studio album, ‘Breathe’. Inspired by a stronger sense of self, more creativity and an even more dauntless approach to studio work, the album comprises a total of 39 tracks, from chart-topping hits to surprising collaborations (e.g. Pendulum & Rob Swire, Sam Gray, Moby, Bon Jovi) and new tracks, such as ‘Let It Be For Love’ (feat. JAI RYU) and ‘Want Some More’ (feat. Sam Harper). It is chockful of sound fusions and expert songwriting, showing that a balanced mind and lifestyle can lead to wonder. “‘Breathe Out’ really shows how far I’ve come, not just as an artist, but as a person. This album is about creative freedom, living fully, and putting everything I’ve learned – especially through my journey with mental health and self-growth – into the music. In many ways, it feels like coming full circle.”
