Victor Banev, a Russian writer now living in America, arrives in the flooded city of Tashlinsk. He is seeking his daughter in the expanse of his former homeland. Perhaps the city is blessed with unearthly beauty, but it is ill suited to our lives. It is constantly raining and foggy; the only source of light is the sinister ultra-red illumination, which comes from a source that humans can’t figure out. The city now belongs to strange human-like beings called mokretsy. Their origin is as mysterious as the climatic changes that have occurred in city, now surrounded by an army and isolated from the rest of humanity.

The first woman in film history, Alice Guy began her career in 1894 as the secretary in a still-photography company owned by Léon Gaumont. Thanks to her talent and her strength of character, she became a pioneer of the cinema and, in the space of a decade, a director and producer of Gaumont Studios. She invented 'fiction cinema', using actors for the first time on camera.

In this film, Kluge continues his fascination with history, culture and cinema as he examines the close of the 20th century. Opening with a production of Verdi’s Tosca, he sets up a contrast between the treatment of moral and aesthetic issues in the 19th century and their examination in the cinema. Several stories – with characters who are mainly nameless, such as “The big boss, a man in a hurry,” Homeworker,” “Superfluous employee” – are juxtaposed, creating a filmic essay, a montage of ideas and reflections on the present, a present which affects our views of the past and our hopes for the future. At the center, serving perhaps as a metaphor for both his film and cinema itself, is the story of a director who goes blind while working on his latest film. He continues working, his head full of images, trying to create what he cannot see.

Bart Vegter (1940-2011) was self-taught and derived his primary inspiration from the methods of filmmakers such as Frans Zwartjes and Paul de Mol, and experimental cinema from the 1970s and 1980s. Before starting to shoot abstract films at age forty, Bart Vegter graduated from the Eindhoven University of Technology and worked at the laboratories of Shell and Philips. His oeuvre may be modest in size, but it excels in its eye for detail and craftsmanship. During the early years, he worked with traditional animation techniques. However, his last few films such as Nacht-Licht [Night Light], Space-Modulation and Forest-Views display a more idiosyncratic style attributable to the software he wrote.

Now this musical performance entitled "Industrial Symphony No. I" is another collaboration between composer Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch. Lynch presented this musical spectacle about as he puts it "sound effects and music and … happening on the stage. And, it has something to do with, uh, a relationship ending" at the Brooklyn Academy of Music as a part of the New Music America Festival on November 10th 1989. The New Music America Festival was founded in the early 80's by David Byrne and Laurie Anderson. David Lynch produced a 50 minutes video of the perfomance.

Experimental filmmaker Bill Morrison created this non-narrative feature, which derives a large portion of its visual beauty from the physical nature of the film medium itself. Decasia is primarily compiled from a wealth of old and damaged footage, in which the scratches, scraped emulsion, bubbles, streaks, and decaying nitrate add an extra dimension of texture to a patchwork of images both extraordinary and mundane. Originally created as part of a multimedia environmental performance piece, with the film screened in tandem with a performance by a 55-piece ensemble, Decasia has also been screened in a version with recorded score, composed by avant garde percussionist Michael Gordon. Decasia was screened at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival.
