Army Badges and Insignia of World War II (2)

Army Badges and Insignia of World War II (2) By Guido Rosignoli
Publisher: Blanford Press 1975 | 198 Pages | ISBN: 071370747X | PDF | 30 MB

First of all I would like to thank the readers for their appreciation of my previous volumes and for all the information and advice, which has helped me enormously in compiling this book. I apologise to those whose information I could not use but, of course, it will prove invaluable to me for future publications. As the badges of most of the armies I have dealt with are relatively unknown, the research has been long and difficult and as I try to include all the information I possibly can the result is that the badges of one army are often better analysed than those of another, depending on the available information. The cap badges in the first part of this book are printed in a different method from the rest; as I can only use yellow paint the bronze and black badges are treated with additional 'Zip-a-Tone' which, I am afraid, often blurs their details. It is often difficult to ascertain if a badge was actually worn during World War 2, before or just after the war or, in the case of some nations, the war started before or after 1939. If in doubt, I prefer to add to my work rather than otherwise, although by doing so some of the badges illustrated in fact were not used in the period between 1939 and 1945. As usual, I have included some brief historical introductions and descriptions of uniforms: the latter, I think, will help the reader to visualise these badges as they were actually worn on the uniform.
