Charles Balun's defunct Deep Red magazine furnished the writings collected here. If you have an interest in horror's grotesque dark side (yes it can get a lot worse than you could ever imagine) then this book is worth seeking out. There are some truly great bits, notably The Third World Cannibal Films and I Spit in Your Face: Films that Bite (and that means they have teeth, they don't stink).
