The Illustrated Encyclopedia of World History by Donker Van Heel
English | November 1, 1996 | ISBN: 1563248050 | PDF | 416 pages | 403 MB

This encyclopedia's 5000 entries cover persons, events, organizations, and concepts from 7000 years of history, up to and including 1996. Entries are usually limited to two or three sentences but are augmented by an abundance of photographs and color reproductions from European collections. Information on historical figures includes birth and death dates and major accomplishments or impact on history. For artists and writers, important works and their dates are indicated. Most concepts, e.g. "Middle Ages," are concisely described, while "thematic pages" consisting of full-page color illustrations and minimal text cover such topics as famous criminals, women, the Crusades, and views on fashion. There are See references and cross references, but not all names referred to in the text have entries, and there is no index. Although the United States is well represented, the European origin of this work is quite apparent.
