In NightShade nothing is as it seems . . . Eleri Eames thinks her life is getting back on track. She didn’t think she’d ever be allowed to work for the FBI again, so the special FBI division of NightShade seems like an amazing opportunity. But Eleri is concerned to learn that she tested into the unit when she didn’t even know she was being tested. All too soon, her chance to start over starts to disturb her. When the FBI offers Donovan a chance to leave his job as a medical examiner and try his hand at something new, he takes a chance on the NightShade division. Having spent his life in the shadows, he’s not sure he can successfully work in a team. Somehow, he has to try, but can he trust Eleri with the truth? Thrown together to solve their first case, Eleri and Donovan must deal with a charismatic cult leader and true-believers, all hidden in the wilds of Texas. The cult is mixed up with several decade-old kidnapping cases and Eleri and Donovan don’t have high hopes for finding the missing daughter of a prominent FBI Agent. When their orders get more specific, neither is sure they can do what’s been asked, especially when they discover that NightShade’s mysteries aren’t coincidence. Their secrets will save them . . . or destroy them. "…Under Dark Skies will make a lovely crossover book for those interested in trying an FBI thriller and those wanting to dabble a little in paranormal. I myself am looking forward to reading the next case." -Caffeinated Book Reviewer "A.J. Scudiere combines a supernatural touch with a fast pace and easy-to-read prose which makes you just want to keep on reading. Missing children, murder, forensic investigation, werewolves… The different elements go together so well I would say she nailed it." -It's All About Books "A.J. Scudiere's first book in her 'Nightshade, forensic files' series is a thrill ride for all those who enjoy suspense novels. Her background as a biologist has helped her people 'Under Dark Skies' with really unique characters with special skills who yearn to be like everyone else. Lucky for us, they're not." -Betty Lou Roselle "Have you ever started a book and could immediately tell it was going to be good? That’s exactly how this book made me feel after reading the first paragraph. Maybe it’s the writing style or the author just made a really good impression, but I knew I was going to like this book… I could not put it down. The characters were great and both had different personalities. I really loved how subtle the supernatural parts were. We didn’t even know there was going to be supernatural aspects until a little ways into the book. It was like a mystery within a mystery! It was so much fun trying to figure out the supernatural parts but then trying to figure out the case they were working on too. I was never bored because I was constantly trying to figure everything out. This will not be the last book in this series that I read. I can’t wait to see where Eleri and Donovan go next!" -Books for Thought "I loved it! I had a great time reading it. A.J Scudiere know what she is doing. Therefore I’m giving Under Dark Skies 5 Stars out of 5. and Two Big Thumbs Up! A.J. Scudiere is a very talented writer. She grabbed me right away. She had me interested from the Pre-Introduction, The Science of Myth. Her scientific analyses of witches, vampires, zombies, and werewolves got me interested and drew me right in. Then the Introduction proved that Ms. Scudiere knew what she was doing. She had an idea and the skill to bring that idea to fruition." -Bill's Book Reviews
