The Wars in Syria and Palestine of Thutmose III (Culture and History of the Ancient Near East) (repost)

Donald B. Redford "The Wars in Syria and Palestine of Thutmose III (Culture and History of the Ancient Near East)"
Brill Academic Publishers | 2003-08-01 | ISBN: 9004129898 | 272 pages | PDF | 134 MB

In order to subject the Asiatic campaigning of the 15th-century BC Egyptian Pharaoh to new investigation, Redford (classics and ancient Mediterranean studies, Pennsylvania State U.) has assembled, collated, and translated sources and commented on the texts and contents. The wars are the best documented in Egypt's history because Thutmose recorded his deeds extensively, people widely recorded his words, and archives from Western Asia provide information though no specific mention of Thutmose himself has yet been found in cuneiform sources. Oversize sheets folded into a back pocket transcribe hieroglyphic documents.
