I have never got better descriptions with examples on other things until now.
Of storyboarding books, there are few, and the quality in most leave much to be desired. Layout books are even fewer and you always end up with the few pages in Illusion of Life, when working with a layout.
Then I stumbled over this gem. One of those rare simple strokes of genius, which the world (mine at least!) seems to have passed by. It is excellent to say the least! Anybody with an interest in visual narrative should get a copy. Mark T. Byrne meticulously explains how to organise your scenes for maximum impact, how to chose your shots, how to draw the eye of the audience to where you want them to focus, how to get the right mood for the shot and so much more. One of my many favourites is his explanation of how to do layouts and backgrounds for all those impossible pans that don't just go horizontal or vertical.
It is a treasure trove, which should be found on most every artist's desk, whether you do games, film, TV, animation or something related.
