Analysing Complexity - Designing Simplicity

What you'll learn

Understand and apply the key concepts of Data Modelling in Business Analysis.

Construct and validate data models using Entity Relationship Diagrams and UML Class Diagrams.

Analyse requirements to construct Data Models for new or enhanced systems, that accurately reflect business needs.

Analyse and resolve more complex business requirements and business rules.

Requirements

Students need an understanding of the key concepts of Data Modelling - Entities / Object Classes, Attributes, Relationships / Associations, Optionality and Business Rules. The course content builds on these concepts and covers advanced Data Modelling techniques. Ideally students will have completed my introductory course - Data Modelling - or an equivalent training programme.

Description

If you are a practising or aspiring Business Analyst or Data Analyst, this course will help you to develop your career. Learn some advanced aspects of an essential Business Analysis technique - Data Modelling . By the end of the course you will be able to construct data models that accurately reflect more complex business requirements.  You will learn some advanced data modelling and data analysis techniques. You will be able to apply all of this is practice on systems development projects.Contents include:Data Sub-typing and Inheritance.Exclusive Relationships.Business Rules and Data.Database Design.Analysis of Data Attributes.Analysis of Relationships / Associations.Transferable Relationships.Recursive Relationships. The course is highly practical and case study based. It aims to teach practice as well as theory. You will have plenty of chances to apply and consolidate your new skills. The course includes practical exercises and assignments which you can complete and receive feedback. Your tutor, Steve McIntosh, will give you as much help and support as you need.So - if you want to learn something useful, that you can apply in practice and will help to develop your career as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst - please dive in and join the course. I look forward to working with you!
