This text is ideal for students planning to pursue a science related field and it covers the basics of microbiology starting with a brief history of microbiology and impacts microbes have had on humans. It is a great concise general microbiology basically for tertiary schools. It was collated using the standard of National Board for Technical Education which supervises, regulates and oversee educational programmes offered by technical institutions at Secondary, Colleges and Polytechnic levels through an accreditation process. Each chapter of this book provides a sufficient historical background regarding pioneers of scientific discoveries, advancement in science technologies which is very clear and concise. The chapters that discuss the Isolation, Cultivation and Microorganisms of Veterinary importance will be of more benefit to the students; it serves as the basis for all researches and practical works generally. The level of accuracy for all the different topics are very good and flowed well, the book is free of errors, accurate and unbiased. The authors have done a great job of editing the textbook to cover the scope and sequence requirements for all semester microbiology course for both majors and non -majors in the course.
Salami O. is a lecturer at Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Science Laboratory Technology Department, Microbiology Uni,t and currently the coordinator for seminar/project and Capacity Building and Research Development of the department. She attended Remo Secondary School, Ogun State. She holds a B.Sc. degree in Microbiology and Master Degree in Medical Microbiology . She is currently undergoing her Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology and Public Health at Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State. She has been teaching Biology, Agricultural Science and Integrated Science and related courses at various level of education since 2008. She is married and blessed with wonderful children.
