Starting with an explanation of the general idea of simulation speed-up, first an overview is given of the different simulation speed-up techniques which are examined and compared in this thesis and also investigated with respect to the possibility to combine them in different ways. Next, the aspect of the state space coverage is discussed and the effect of the local coefficient of correlation is shown. Its influence on the convergence speed of the simulation is demonstrated together with means to reduce this influence significantly, resulting in a considerable speed-up potential.
