Almost 300 million people speak in Bengali Language and 100 million of them are from India. Additionally, Bengali is spoken by 100 million people in various countries as a first or second language by expatriate communities, particularly in the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Middle East.In 2010, the parliament of Bangladesh and the legislative assembly of West Bengal proposed that Bengali should be made an official UN language. In 2022, the UN has adopted Bangla an unofficial language, after a resolution tabled by India. Knowing Bengali may open up professional opportunities in the business, government, or cultural sectors that deal with Bengali speaking countries or communities. Bengali has a rich cultural history and has produced influential literature, music, and film. Learning the language can provide access to this wealth of artistic and literary expression.
