Intro to Circuits and Programming

Description

In this course, the student is taken from the very beginning of BJT examples at DC. We start with the early effect. We continue with the introduction of two examples where the BJT is coupled with resistors and the parameters of the BJT are given. The task is to find all the voltages at the various nodes and all the currents in the various branches of the circuit shown. In this task, the student is taken slowly through the basics, each assumption is explained clearly, notation is clarified as well, and then, using the various laws such as Ohm's law, Kirchoff's nodal law and Kirchoff's circuit law, the desired currents and voltages are computed. Advanced examples are also given and discussed threadbare. How a Kirchoff's voltage loop is decoded is explained and also used in the examples. On the nMOSFET side, the student is exposed to the various `parts' of the device, the purpose of each part being clearly explained. How a conducting channel is created in this semiconductor device is explained, and how it acts in a controlled way is gone over. Finally, a paradigm shift is developed wherein the student is asked to look at the nMOSFET as a capacitor and its capacitance is then computed. In combination with `Intro to Circuits and Programming' this course gives the student much needed clear knowledge about the BJT and an introduction to the nMOSFET, the sister device. Further courses in the series are planned which will go over more related topics.
