Description

A COURSE DESIGNED TO MAINTAIN YOUR HEALTH, ENERGY AND MENTAL WELLBEING FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFEIn the course, which is based on classically trained acting, we will begin with some simple but effective breathing exercises in order to get the breath flowing.Moving on to the actual exercises we start with Release and Redirect. This is to release tension in our body and to redirect or rebalance our body into a better alignment. We will allow these exercises to open our body to accepting more breath in us and deeper breathing. giving us more oxygen around the body, Allowing us to breathe easily in all our everyday life activities. The Alexander technique is us using the semi-supine position or ‘giving our backs a rest’. We will be including commands and exercises to soften our muscles all over our body. And we will become more aware of our bodies and any incoming tensions before they get out of control. We will be loosening tensions (and preventing tensions), that have moved our body out of it’s natural free flowing, at ease that we have as children. The Alexander part is about awareness of ourselves, imagination and giving ourselves direction.Using the Yoga with a few postures to add and increase our body alignment. This will give our body a chance to heal itself. Breathing in synchronicity with free flowing exercises giving us more fluidity and grace as we move. These are soft, free flowing, allowing exercises, postures and techniques. No impact, no joint strain and no pushing. Why should I address my posture?Good posture is not just about how you present yourself. Having poor posture can actually affect your physical and mental health.‌ Better mood and energy. One of the best benefits of good posture is the way that you feel about yourself. Improving your posture can help you stay focused and more energized throughout the day. This can help improve your moodResearch also suggests that good posture can lead to more self-confidence. When you carry yourself well and feel good about yourself, you’re less likely to experience depressive thoughts. This can give you more self-esteem and a better feeling of pride and confidence in yourself.‌Bone, joint, and muscle health. Your posture depends on your muscles and bones. When you align your spine correctly, you put less stress on your joints and bones. This can lead to less overall pain or reduced chances of developing problems like osteoarthritis.‌‌Better breathing and fewer headaches. When you sit or stand up straight with your shoulders back, you will find that it’s easier to breathe. There’s more room to open up your chest for deeper breaths. Practicing poor posture, such as when you’re slouching over, can cause tension in your shoulders and neck. This can lead to headaches in your forehead or the back of your skull. ‌Improved spine and neck health. By practicing proper posture, you help reduce the risk of back and neck pain. Slouching or hunching at a desk can affect the way your spine grows. Back pain is actually one of the most common reasons why people miss work. If your job requires you to stand for long periods of time, standing properly can help you fight back against fatigue and leg pain or cramps.
