Description
In some conditions during your studies, manual calculation can be required due to control issues or for the purpose of just learning. In my knowledge sharing videos on short circuit current calculations:We will look through the definitions, terms and equations in IEC 60909 Standard. After quick review, you will find exercises on short circuit current manual calculations (Excel) based on IEC 60909 Standard.Impedance of power system components and short circuit current on fault location can be calculated according to IEC 60909-0 Standard. Initial symmetrical current, peak short circuit current, breaking current, steady state short circuit current, dc component of the short circuit current, asymmetrical breaking current are calculated considering balanced or unbalanced fault conditions by using equations. Exercises include medium voltage induction motor contribution to short circuit current, short circuit current calculation based on balanced fault and line to line fault condition in case of generator connection, parallel equivalent impedance of power system components in complex number and short circuit current in power plant auxiliary which contains medium voltage and low voltage induction motors. After manual calculations using Excel for each exercise, the results are compared by ETAP short circuit tool.At the end of the videos, you will be familiar with equations, relevant terms and definitions stated in IEC 60909 Standard. You will be able to calculate short circuit currents of your circuits based on single line by manual calculation or ETAP software.
