DuckDB is a relational database. It is an embedded database, there’s no server software to install.
For example, when you run the following Python command, a file, bookdb, will be created. This single file is the DuckDB database, which will contain your tables, their data and other objects required by the database to function.
duckdb.connect
DuckDB is designed to support analytical query workloads. These are queries that involve a lot of tables and complex computations. You can glance at the table of contents that you will learn the various aspects and nuances of SQL queries.
In this book I use Python, but the SQL queries work the same on the other clients supported by DuckDB (C, Java, R, etc.)
