Description

SAP ABAP (Advanced Business Application Programming) is the programming language used for the development of applications that run on the SAP Application Server, which is the foundation of the SAP NetWeaver platform. ABAP is a proprietary programming language developed by SAP, and is used to create custom solutions for the SAP ERP system, including business intelligence and reporting, data management, and enterprise application integration.ABAP is a high-level programming language, similar in syntax to COBOL and other older programming languages. However, it also includes features from modern programming languages such as object-oriented programming, events, and exceptions. It is designed to be easy to learn for programmers with a background in other programming languages, and is closely integrated with the SAP ERP system.ABAP is used to create custom programs, known as ABAP programs, which can be used to interact with the underlying data in the SAP system. These programs can be used to extract, display, and manipulate data from the SAP system, as well as to create custom business logic and validation rules. Programs can also be used to create custom user interfaces and forms that can be used to input and manage data in the SAP system.ABAP programs can be run in the SAP system in a number of different ways, such as through transaction codes (T-codes), through the SAP menu, or as background jobs.ABAP provides a powerful set of built-in functionality, including data manipulation and validation, user interface creation, and report generation. This means that developers can create complex business applications without having to write a lot of low-level code.ABAP also provides a number of advanced features, such as object-oriented programming, events, and exceptions, which allow developers to create more modular, reusable code.ABAP also provides a rich set of tools for debugging and testing, which helps to ensure that code is working correctly and is free from errors.ABAP is closely integrated with other components of the SAP NetWeaver platform, such as the SAP Database (SAP HANA or other supported databases) and the SAP Business Suite, which means that data and business logic can be easily shared across different components of the system.ABAP allows the integration of external system and data source with the help of various techniques like RFC, BAPI, IDOC, PI/PO and other middleware software.ABAP also provides several framework like Web Dynpro ABAP, Floor plan manager (FPM) etc, which are used to develop the user interface and business logic in a more standard and consistent way.ABAP also provides a set of tools for creating and consuming web services, which allows for easy integration with external systems and data sources.Understanding of the SAP ERP system and how it is used in business environments.Knowledge of the ABAP programming language and its syntax, including object-oriented programming, events, and exceptions.Understanding of how to extract, display, and manipulate data in the SAP system using ABAP programs.Knowledge of how to create custom user interfaces and forms using ABAP.Understanding of how to create custom business logic and validation rules in the SAP system using ABAP.Knowledge of how to generate and customize reports in the SAP system using ABAP.Understanding of how to create and consume web services to integrate with external systems and data sources.Knowledge of how to debug and test ABAP programs to ensure that they are free from errors.Understanding of how to use different framework, tools and technique provided by ABAP like web dynpro ABAP, Floor plan manager, BAPI, IDOC, PI/PO etcUnderstanding of how to use ABAP in conjunction with other components of the SAP NetWeaver platform, such as the SAP Database and the SAP Business Suite.Areas covered in this course are1.
