The Fairchild Republic A-10 didn't ever win any aeronautical beauty contests. Yet when effective close-air-support was needed, the 'Warthog' delivered…and in spades. Ken Neubeck takes an up-close-and-personal look at this killer machine in WALK-AROUND #17, published by Squadron Signal in 1999.
Neubeck's book follows the established S/S format, 80 pages of general arrangement and detail photographs, all-color pages alternating with b&w pix. Richard Hudson contributes several multi-view drawings and Don Greer, five color pages of A-10 camouflage patterns and cover artwork.
Aside from a brief historical summary, the emphasis is on nuts-and-bolts and modellers will welcome the many detail shots of nose gears, rudders, wingtips, weapons pylons, etc.
