"This Side of Paradise"

Star Trek features James T. Kirk captain of the Enterprise, Spock and Leonard "Bones" McCoy. This is the TV series that started it all – the original Star Trek television show. The iconic 1960s series gave us a number of incredibly memorable characters and performances, led by William Shatner as Kirk, Leonard Nimoy as Spock and DeForest Kelley as Bones – and in the process began what would become one of the biggest franchises in history. Here is a short selection of teleplays / screenplays / transcripts of the best Trek T.O.S episodes, Star Trek TOS The Original Series. Please enjoy and share.

Another first season episode, another opportunity for Leonard Nimoy to emote despite the Vulcan mandate of not emoting. But that was the real trick with Spock, wasn't it? Even though he was in control of his emotions, he actually was – to paraphrase Kirk from Wrath of Khan – the most human of us all.

A trip to Omicron Ceti III finds a bunch of colonists who should be dead because of the planet's Berthold rays… but aren't. (Why would you colonize such a planet in the first place, one wonders?) A fistfight with a lovey-dovey Spock – who'd recently hooked up with filmbay his woulda-coulda-shoulda girlfriend from back in the day, Leila Kalomi (Jill Ireland) – ensues, and soon Kirk has freed his crew from paradise. We think that's a good thing.

The episode features one of Spock's best moments ever. After he's freed of the spores, a heartbroken Leila tells him that she doesn't even know if he has another name. The regretful Vulcan responds, "You couldn't pronounce it." And a thousand Trekkies wept.
