When anyone asks us what living in Albania is like, we recommend this Xenophobe's Guide to the Abanians! While in places, it is written with obvious tongue-in-cheek (see section on Roles of Men and Women) even these sections are insightful. The author has more than a passing understanding of the Albanian culture and captures it well in this short book. The section headings are helpful and it is hard to find any large areas he failed to address. One or twice I felt his observations reflected a bit more of urban perspective, but these only stood out to me since I am living in a village.
Whether you have lived in Albania for a while, or are visiting for the first time, this book is worth the read!
