PREFACE
When I started out with street photography, I came across so many confusing dogmas that rather pushed me away from the genre than brought me closer to it.
I love street photography more than anything else and this genre means the world to me. I want to see it grow - with you. I’m not going to tell you how you have to do this. I’m trying to inspire and educate you in a way that will lead to your own interpretation of the genre.

“It takes nothing to join a crowd. It takes everything to stand alone.”

Hans F. Hansen
This genre truly needs creative souls like you to grow and re-invent itself. You are an artist, you are a legend in the making and you are street photography - no matter how you interpret the genre. It’s fine. Don’t let anyone ever tell you it should be this or that. You know what it should be? Yours!

"Man, the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system."
Bruce Lee

These 10 essential street photography lessons are insights I gained on my
journey so far. Looking back I can say that these have certainly not only led to my very own signature, but also enabled me to live the life of my dreams. Sure, there’s way more factors involved in order to “make it”, but at the core of everything still lies your photography.
Don’t see these lessons as a dogma or a credo. Take them for what they are: insights that will benefit you on your own journey. Twist them, turn them and generate your own insights and share them with the world.
I wish you all the best on your very own creative journey and may your street photography remind the world of the hidden beauty of the leaf, not the rose.
