Description
This course starts with a general overview of operations management, provides details about scope of operations management with practical examples. The course expose students to various types of operations systems, elucidate on differentiating features of operations management, provide key details on the nature of operations management.
The course is designed to teach the import of the various management functions in an organization, elucidate on the superior functions of operations management, marketing and finance, and reveal the interface between operations management and other functions.
It provide students with a broad overview of supply chain management, elucidate on distinguishing features of supply chain for a manufacturing firm and that of a service provider, teach concepts of distribution, finished goods placement and selection of transportation mode. The course describes in details core skills of measuring supply-chain performance.
The course teaches core concepts of inventory management, elucidate on the import of inventory management in organisations, and expose students to the techniques of using ABC analysis in identifying critical inventory items. The course provides students with a standard definition, method of derivation and application of the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ).
The course consists of basic Total Quality Management concepts, expose students to the relevance of international quality standards to a firm’s competitiveness. It teaches general principles of maintenance and facility management, the course provides details on the concept, derivation and application of plant and equipment availability, and expose students to concepts and functions of maintenance management.
