Learn how to connect rhythm guitar parts to produce compelling acoustic rock songs.
Every now and then, we focus on a topic and produce a course presentation that has universal value across our entire student body irrespective of style or level of play. This is one of those courses. While the style covered is Acoustic Rock and the target level is intermediate and beyond — EVERY student of guitar should work through this course from beginning to end.

If you play music, you play songs. Whatever the style, whatever the instrument; the song, and its arrangement, is the blueprint that you and your fellow musicians follow from the beginning to the end of a musical performance.

Fortunately for musicians, all songs share a very similar structure; intros, verses, bridges, choruses and outros. These elements get connected and arranged to form the songs we hear and play every day.

If you play guitar in a band, 90% of your job is laying down a solid and interesting rhythm part. To do that you need three things; a solid understanding of song structure, a comprehensive vocabulary of chord voicings and a versatile command of rhythmic patterns. It’s all here in Massimo Varini’s Rhythm Factory: Acoustic Rock.

If you’re a singer-songwriter and write your own music or arrange covers to perform solo, you need those same three things but you also need the creative know-how for crafting your own original and fresh-sounding intros, verses, bridges, choruses and outros. That’s also here in Massimo Varini’s Rhythm Factory: Acoustic Rock.

Massimo organized the curriculum into 6 sections. In the first section, he steps you through 10 approaches for crafting and performing Intros and Outros. The second section features 10 approaches for Verses. The third section features 10 approaches for Bridges and the fourth section features 10 approaches for Choruses.

All 40 of the approaches feature different rhythmic techniques, different keys and chord voicings, different tempos and overall different creative feels. Massimo first performs the approach over a rhythm track and then breaks it all down for you in detail. All of the approaches are tabbed and notated and you’ll also get the rhythm tracks to practice with on your own (first practice the parts as presented, and then write your own!).

In the fifth section, Massimo shows you how to connect the Intros, Verses, Bridges and Choruses to craft and perform full Song Forms. You’ll work through 10 full Song Forms, which utilize all of the 40 song elements covered in the first 4 sections. These are also performed over rhythm tracks and then broken down in detail by Massimo. All 10 Song Forms also have accompanying tab, notation and rhythm tracks for you to work with on your own.

The magic and lifetime value of the Rhythm Factory manifests itself in the sixth section where Massimo shows you how to mix, match, connect or otherwise combine any of the 10 Intros with any of the 10 Verses with any of the 10 Bridges with any of the 10 Choruses and with any of the 10 Outros. Do the math — that’s a truckload of possibilities just with Massimo’s parts as presented. Tweak those parts with your own creative prowess and the possibilities are infinite.

Massimo presents this Rhythm Factory in an Acoustic Rock style but the key learnings herein can be applied across almost every style for both acoustic and electric guitars.

You’re a click away from one of the insightful and engaging courses we’ve ever had the pleasure of producing. Grab your guitar and dig in!
