One is the Bee Gees' eighteenth studio album, released in April 1989 (in the United States the release was delayed, coming out in August of the same year). After the European success of their previous album, E.S.P., the Gibb brothers began to work on the One album in early 1988. In March, their brother Andy suddenly died and the Bee Gees took a break until November when they returned to the studio to complete the album. The style of One was more melancholic than E.S.P., and heavily influenced by the loss of their brother. The first single from the album, "Ordinary Lives", dedicated to Andy, was an example of that.

Like 1999's tribute to Gram Parsons, Return of the Grievous Angel, this successful collection revives the tired "tribute" concept and applies it in homage to a key figure in country music. Interpreting songs from across Hank Williams's short and troubled career, a range of high-profile artists use different approaches with equally gratifying results. Tom Petty, Sheryl Crow, and Hank Williams III play familiar songs with traditional arrangements (Ms. Crow's yodel is an eye opener); Beck, Mark Knopfler, and Keb' Mo' stay closer to their own idioms. Keith Richards's reedy vocal makes "You Win Again" all his own, and Bob Dylan, who has only rarely lent his services to these sorts of projects, leads his touring band through a blues shuffle on "I Can't Get You Off of My Mind." The estimable Lost Highway label has assembled an illustrious cast to sing the praises of the artist who inspired its name, and in doing so it has created a far better testament to its musical mindset than can ever be captured in the term Americana. –Rob Stewart

Beyonce had little to prove on her second solo outing, B'DAY, having already demonstrated her taste, (solo) vocal prowess, and sparkling star quality on her first post-Destiny's Child release in 2003. Nevertheless, the singer and her crackteam of producers and collaborators (R&B's finest, including the Neptunes, Swizz Beats, and Rich Harrison) have come upwith a collection that's at least equal to her previous triumphs, and that shows off an almost angry intensity only hinted at on earlier releases.

Turnaround is the fourth studio album by Irish boy band Westlife and it was released on 24 November 2003.
The first single released was the upbeat track, "Hey Whatever". The song is essentially a cover of Irish rock band Relish's Rainbow Zephyr but with a slightly changed set of lyrics and a different song title. The next single was a cover of the Barry Manilow hit, "Mandy". The band's version was an instant hit, earning them their 12th UK number one and an Irish record of the year award. "Obvious", an original song, was the third and final single released from this album. The song "Turn Around" was released on airwaves in South Africa and charted at #4. Turnaround is sold 7 million copies worldwide.

With no biographical material needed for the iconic George Jones, let s get right to the music: 'A Picture Of Me (Without You)' is quite simply a George Jones masterpiece! Working with producer Billy Sherrill for the first time, Jones found the perfect foil to his now-famous hard honky tonk soul, Sherrill didn t try to tame Jones, but just lasso him in enough to make beautiful music. With many of the finest Nashville songwriters contributing songs, this five-star release (All Music Guide) is called by many the perfect George Jones album. Not to be outdone by its predecessor, Nothing 'Ever Hurt Me (Half As Bad As You)' (Jones second album with producer Billy Sherrill) picks up right where 'A Picture Of Me' left off and never looks back. Another five-star album (All Music Guide), Jones also scored a pair of Top 10 hits with this release (the title track and 'What MyWoman Can t Do'). This is George Jones at his best, and it's on American Beat Records!

1CD | EAC Rip | FLAC(tracks) + Cue + Log | No Scans | 421 MB
Genre: Jazz | Label: Telarc

Septuagenarian Jamaican guitarist Ranglin has seen and done it all. A long-time big band player, he is also widely credited with having invented ska, an infectious shuffling rhythm that presaged rock-steady, reggae, ragga and practically everything that has emerged from Jamaica since. A master of smoothly melodic instrumental music, he is comfortable with large or small combos and is equally gracious whether he is acting as as a lead player or sideman. His long study of American jazz has informed his arrangements with an urban sophistication as redolent of New York City's Harlem or 52nd Street as downtown Kingston. But his sound also encompasses an endearing squareness, a mainstream 60s soundtrack vibe that narrowly misses becoming a more evolved species of elevator music. The album recalls festive Island holidays of yore, when pastel-clad tourists enjoyed long rum drinks and a water view while dancing all night to the world's best hotel band. With Bo Pee on rhythm guitar and Robbie Lyn on keyboards.

Something of a surprise for long-time Donna Summer fans, 1989's ANOTHER PLACE AND TIME finds the disco diva in the company of Stock, Aitken, and Waterman, the powerhouse British dance-pop production/writing team of the mid-'80s. Although SAW's stranglehold on the top of the charts (Bananarama, Kylie Minogue, Rick Astley, etc.) was weakening by mid-1989, the writer/producers still had enough commercial mojo to give Summer her first platinum album and hit singles in years.

On "Bateless Edge," Frogg Café consists of Bill Ayasse (violin, mandolin, vocals, hand percussion), James Guarnieri (drums, glockenspiel, orchestral percussion), Andrew Sussman (bass, cello, acoustic guitar), Nick Lieto (lead vocals, keyboards, trumpet, flugelhorn), John Lieto (trombone), and features the triumphant return of co-founding member, Frank Camiola (guitar, string bass, banjo). "Bateless Edge" is a stunning 78-minute statement, described by bassist/composer Andrew Sussman as a "reflection on incidents revolving around our own personal lives, as well as an integrated and newly formed sound that takes this band into realms that have been unexplored until now." "Bateless Edge" sees Frogg Café fearlessly breaking new musical ground while crafting some of the darkest and most intense musical statements made thus far by this ever-evolving band.
