Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the United States and worldwide. Accordingly, a subdiscipline within the field of behavioral medicine – cardiovascular behavioral medicine – examines interrelations among biological, behavioral, psychological, social, and environmental factors in cardiovascular health and disease.
